Why does a mislabeled ankle brace 15° make my ankle bleed after a midair layup?
idk i have no excuse for what happened yesterday in my last game
i just slipped on the new flexpro ankle brace model 2045 that comes in a 15° drop that i'm used to wearing when i practice
i forgot the manufacturer manual said that 15° is only recommended for double‑doubles while i'm a point guard but i grabbed the wrong model for the day i used size 8 and didn't read the label because it said "15° Drop" on the front and "drop 8/10" on back
imagine after the final 15 second fade‑away attempt i felt the brace give away and the ankle suddenly popped as a blue line over the ligaments
the whole crowd smelled a blood spill i'm the guy with the faint red spray on my shoulder from the whistled whistle i feel like i turned a small screw of wrist gear into a drama for the whole half
i know it sounds silly but i want people who had something similar who misplaced a single small piece who messed up the labeled drop angle
did anyone else find their game ruined because of a mis‑labeled or mis‑used ankle brace
let me know it would help to see whether the 2045 actually was as different as it says
any suggestions to double‑check labels next time or who had that same problem
why the refs keep missing open threes??
just watched the game last night and i swear the refs blew the call on that open three at the end... they were literally standing right there, no excuse?? also the arena wifi died right when i tried to post my hot take, so i missed the replay... anyone else fed up with this?? i’m done waiting for them to get their act together
best teams to watch this season
im looking for some new teams to follow this season, whats some teams that are gonna be fun to watch? i dont really care about the superteams, more interested in some underdog stories or teams with exciting young players. who should i be keeping an eye on? got any favorite teams that are always entertaining to watch?
Lost the game because of a ref slip right before 1st half stops
I was watching the hometown team over the weekend and, just like, the ref blew a flagrant on an off‑screen play for 11 seconds after the ball was already out of bounds. They only called a technical on the guy that started the drive, and the timeout they got turned to a free‑throw attempt from the opposite side of the court. It was weird enough because we had the ball and we were driving. Every other league I watch, if they think it's a 7‑point violation they’d pull their feet down a beat earlier. Nothing dramatic but the score card had it for the second half as if I had been handed an extra 15 seconds to score the game.
Honestly, I have seen better referee work in my pickup games than that. Does anyone have the same "ref gets confused" experiences while watching games?
Got any other basketball theory or real‑talk about this? #celtics #ref #basketball
last nites game tho
i was thinkin about the game last nite and i dont get why they didnt switch up their defense sooner?? like it seemed so obvious to me... they were gettin killed on the perimeter and they just stuck with it lol what do u guys think??
Do you guys watch game tapes before playing?
I've been watching tapes of my own games and those of my opponents to improve my skills. I'm wondering if this is something other people do regularly or if I'm just being overly meticulous. I feel like it's helped me identify areas for improvement and prepare for upcoming matches, but maybe I'm just wasting my time. Do any of you have a similar routine or think this is a pointless exercise?
esports and basketball overlap?
I was watching the recent basketball game and I couldn't help but think about how some of the strategies they use are similar to what I've seen in esports tournaments. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the teamwork and communication aspects are really similar. I've been getting into esports a bit more lately, and it's interesting to see the parallels between the two. Anyone else notice this? 🤔
Help: Picking a 2024 UltraFlex Pro vs CourtSurge XR2 Basketball Shoe for Midcourt Play—Ankle Stability, Cushioning Density, and Breathable Tech Differences
For an in‑depth choice I need specifics on the latest 2024 lineups. I’m focused on midcourt rotation and want a shoe that supports short, explosive pivots without sacrificing ventilation.
My questions break down into three key criteria where these two contenders currently differ:
-
Ankle Stability Systems
- UltraFlex Pro: Features a mid‑height full‑wrap mesh, the 12‑degree rear‑foot locking strap, and the V‑Grid external reinforcement. It claims 80 % additional lateral support per manufacturer.
- CourtSurge XR2: Uses a hybrid plate‑shell ankle band with a 10 mm EVA core and a 9‑mm foam collar. The strap design is reportedly lighter by ~3 g, but it has a lower advertised lateral strength metric.
-
Cushioning Density (X‑Profile)
- UltraFlex Pro: Dual‑core foam with 3.5 mm X‑Density EVA in the midsole and 4 mm Dura‑Grasp in the fore‑foot.
- CourtSurge XR2: Full‑foot X‑Core 3.8 mm, which is the industry average. I’d like comparative data on how that plays out in a 52‑lb vertical.
-
Breathing Tech & Weight
- UltraFlex Pro: Hyper‑Air mesh panel, estimated weight 310 g (women’s) and 320 g (men’s). It’s marketed as a “bi‑conduction airflow system”.
- CourtSurge XR2: Vapor‑Sync mesh but without a secondary layer, weight 295 g (women’s) and 305 g (men’s).
I’ve compared a few posts where enthusiasts ran “velocity‑vs‑ankle support” drills in a controlled setting but most focus on brand‑generic averages. I’m looking for:
- Any recent measured data from certified shoe tests or lab tests on those models’ dynamic balance.
- Personal usage anecdotes that compare both on a professional or semi‑pro midcourt team’s training.
- Knowledge about the longevity of each model’s sole and outsole durability (in minutes of play).
- Is there an aftermarket component (e.g., silicone sleeve or EVA insert) that consistently improves the UltraFlex’s instability noted by some?
A short, concise bullet point for each piece of data would really help keep the discussion focused and prevent a drift into general hype.
I’ve spent days reading error logs and ticket chats lately; a clear, data‑driven thread could help my crew and me make an evidence‑based purchase without falling into the brand loyalty trap. Anyone with concrete evidence or professional field data on these 2024 models would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks for weighing in—I’m aiming to place the best midcourt players in footwear that enhances both performance and safety.
