Burned the Site, Not the Brisket

So I did something dumb recently. Built a whole client’s responsive site, tested it on my phone, and never bothered with actual user devices. Assumed 'mobile-friendly' was a checkbox, not a process. Result? A 7-year-old tablet user couldn’t scroll past the hero section. Classic hubris.

Turns out 40% of the site’s traffic was on Android tablets. Fix? Spent 3 days refactoring CSS grid breaks into media queries. The lesson? Treat responsive design like smoking meat – you can’t rush it, and a missed step at 120°F ruins the whole thing.

Anyone else make the mistake of trusting your own device as a ‘test’ before launch? Or am I the only one whose ‘quick responsive check’ became a Monday-morning crisis?
