Does minimalism fight consumerism or feed into it?

been thinking… if minimalism promotes ‘owning less’, isn’t that just another trend consumerism can co-opt? like when ‘less is more’ becomes a new product selling ‘curated simplicity’ 💭 maybe the system turns even simplicity into a bought-and-sold thing? just wondering if people here see this paradox or feel like it’s harmless. thoughts?
