Finally got the pottery sherds to date with portable XRF

Spent the last week fiddling with the handheld XRF on the trench sherds from the Late Bronze layer. After calibrating with the local reference standards, the readings finally lined up with the expected Cu‑Sn alloy signature. Turns out the instrument was set to the wrong matrix file the whole time. Once corrected, the ages matched the stratigraphy and we can move on to the settlement pattern analysis. Anyone else had similar calibration headaches?
