How can I stop the constant “what‑if” spiral when I’m trying to relax?

I’ve been trying to unwind after work – maybe read a book or listen to some music – but as soon as I sit down my mind jumps to a loop of ‘what if this goes wrong, what if I’m not good enough, what if I mess up tomorrow’. It feels like I’m stuck in this mental treadmill and it totally kills the chill I’m after. Does anyone have concrete tricks or routines that actually break the cycle? I’ve tried counting breaths, but my thoughts just keep popping up. Any small habits or mindset shifts that helped you pull the plug on the spiral?
