Linux fanboys and their distro obsession
It's late and I'm browsing through some Linux forums, and I just can't help but notice how obsessed some people are with their distribution of choice. Newsflash: it's just an operating system. I mean, I love Linux as much as the next person, but come on, the arguments over which distro is 'better' are just petty. Debian vs Ubuntu, Arch vs Fedora - who cares? They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Can't we just focus on the fact that we're all using open-source software and be happy about that? The constant bickering over minor details is just exhausting. And don't even get me started on the people who claim that their distro is the 'most secure' or the 'most stable'. Have you ever actually used a Windows machine? It's not like we're comparing apples and oranges here, it's more like apples and slightly-different-apples. I guess what I'm trying to say is, let's all just take a step back and appreciate the fact that we have so many great options available to us, rather than tearing each other apart over which one is 'best'.
