Tenkara vs Traditional Fly Fishing: Which Rod is Best for Stream Fishing?
I've been getting into tenkara fishing lately and I've gotta say, it's been a game changer for stream fishing. The simplicity of the setup is really appealing to me, I mean who needs all the extra gear when you can just bring a rod, line, and fly? I've been using a Yamano KEiryu Special 5:5 and it's been working great for the small streams I fish in. The action is nice and sensitive, and it's picked up some nice trout. But I'm curious to know what you guys think, have any of you made the switch to tenkara or do you still stick with traditional fly fishing? What are the pros and cons of each? I've heard some people say that traditional fly fishing gives you more control, but I've found that the tenkara rod is plenty accurate for my needs. And the best part is, it's so much less gear to carry around. Do you guys think the extra control is worth the hassle? Or are there other factors at play here... like maybe the type of fish you're trying to catch?
