weird folding quirks

I was folding a crane the other day and i got to thinking about how every time i make one it starts out all tight and neat but by the time i'm halfway through its like my folds just lose their crispiness. is this just me? anyone else notice that some papers seem to hold a fold better than others? i mean i know its supposed to be about the technique and all but some papers honestly feel like they're working against me. i'm using this pretty standard kami right now and it's alright but i remember using some really cheap paper once and it was almost impossible to get a clean fold. anyone tried that new moyori paper? heard its really good for folding
