Why do road trip routes always ignore rest stops?

Planning a drive last week, and it bugged me how most route planners just skip rest stops. Who designed these algorithms without considering basic human fatigue? I get optimizing for distance/time, but ignoring scheduled breaks feels like programming a car for a robot. Even my 2008 Civic knows to flash the low fuel light. Maybe road trips need a 'human fuel' metric. Thoughts?
