why does my watercolor layer turn muddy after second wash??
so i've been trying to build up layers in watercolor and the first wash looks fine but as soon as i add a second transparent layer everything just turns into a grayish mess... i thought maybe i'm overwatering or using the wrong paper? tbh i also use a cheap brush and i think maybe the pigment is too weak?? any tips on how to keep colors bright when glazing? 🙏 lol i tried letting each layer dry completely and using less water but still kinda dull... maybe i should switch to a harder surface or use more saturated paints? any recommendations on paper weight or specific brands that handle glazing better?? thanks!!
