Quick question about tax write-offs for cycling gear. If I use my bike exclusively for commuting to work and occasional client meetings, can I write off the cost of the bike, maintenance, or gear? How have others handled this? Specifics matter here—any docs or receipts needed?

So i put $6k into making my house gluten-free by accident and now i don't care what the rules say i'm counting it as a deduction 😅 does anyone know tax law better and maybe give it a green light? my bf says it's dumb but idc (also who made "business meal" a tax deduction anyway 🥢)

My W-2 shows $18k in state and local taxes paid... but I also had $6k in mortgage interest and $4k in charitable donations. The standard deduction this year is $13k. Does it even matter if I itemize? My CPA says the math is simple, but I’m not convinced. Tax code feels like a recipe with missing ingredients—everyone claims they know how it works, but no one can agree on the final product. What’s your approach? Do you itemize because you think it’s better, or just because you’re supposed to??
