tbh the whole 'more layers = better art' vibe is garbage and I will scream into the void until someone hears me?? like sure layers give you flexibility but when does it become overkill?? I saw a piece the other day with 473 layers and it looked like someone spilled paint over a spreadsheet... just because you CAN clip a mask onto a vector shape doesn't mean you SHOULD?? composting teaches us to let things break down naturally why do digital artists force complexity where simplicity would rot so much better?? I made this little glitchy abstract thing last night with 12 layers total and it got more saves than my 8k hyperrealistic render farm masterpiece... maybe people are tired of watching over-layered soups of adjustment layers and smart objects?? or maybe I'm just a cranky digital gardener who wants to see roots not render times??

I’ve been experimenting with digital art lately but keep hitting a wall when it comes to textures... My layers look flat, like a spreadsheet of colors instead of something alive?? I’ve tried the obvious stuff but maybe I’m missing a tool that’s actually designed for blending depth into 2D work? Like, not just slapping on a ‘grunge’ overlay but something that reacts to light/shadow dynamically? I’m throwing it out there — if you’ve spent time in this rabbit hole, what’s your secret weapon? I’ll even take a niche app recommendation over anotherPhotoshoptutorial... Let’s cut through the noise and talk real tools.

Alright I need to stop pretending I know what I’m doing with digital art...?? Last week I spent hours on a piece only to realize I’d accidentally merged all my layers. The basics. The F***ING BASICS. How do you even fix that without crying?? It looked like a melted crayon explosion... I’m not even slightly embarrassed. NOT AT ALL...??

I tried ‘fixing’ it by adding more chaos on top—because why not?—but it just became this weird abstract thing that screams ‘I give up.’ Any of you artists out there have tips for salvaging a digital trainwreck?? Or should I just accept it as a modern art masterpiece and call it a day...??

Lately I’ve been getting stuck trying to balance detail with efficiency in my digital art. What habits do you have to keep projects from becoming unmanageable? I’m thinking of trying a simpler base sketch before adding effects, but not sure how others structure their workflow.
