I'm going to come clean about something that's been bugging me. I've been studying the history of brewing, trying to give my home brews some authentic roots. But I made a silly mistake - I thought the ancient Sumerians invented all-grain brewing. Turns out, they actually used barley, but it was more like a primitive form of extract brewing. I know, I know, it's a rookie error. But it got me thinking - how many other historical 'facts' have I misunderstood? I've been reading about the origins of beer and I realized that the line between fact and myth is pretty blurred. Anyone else have any embarrassing historical mishaps to share?
