Let Kids Stay Up Late Sometimes

I get it—bedtime routines are supposed to teach discipline. But what if we’re overdoing it? My 9-year-old’s been begging to stay up past 9pm a few nights a week. Sure, she’s a ‘toddler’ by some standards, but she’s responsible enough to pick her own bedtime sometimes. Last week she stayed up until 10, read a book, and still got up early. No meltdowns. No zombie energy the next day.

We’re so fixated on ‘structure’ that we forget kids need flexibility to learn their own limits. Trust me, I’ve seen enough ‘structured’ households where kids just stare at screens until they pass out. At least this way, she’s making choices. Am I raising a night owl? Maybe. But she’s also learning trust and accountability. Thoughts?

finally got my kid to eat veggies

idk so i was getting pretty frustrated with my kid refusing to eat anything green, i mean we're talking full on tantrums over a single pea on their plate, but i tried something new today and it actually worked, i let them help with meal prep, they got to pick out the veggies at the store and wash them at home, and then they even helped with the cooking, now they're not exactly begging for broccoli or anything but they did eat a few bites without complaining, which is basically a miracle in my book, imo its all about making them feel invested in the process, anybody else have any tips on getting kids to eat healthy?
