Frustrating fieldwork

I'm still annoyed about the sampling issues we had last week in the field. We spent hours collecting what we thought were decent specimens, only to find out that the equipment had been improperly calibrated. Now we've got a bunch of potentially useless data and samples that might not even be representative of the site. It's not like we can just go back and re-collect everything, the outcrops are already being re-vegetated. Does anyone else have to deal with this kind of stuff? It feels like we're taking two steps forward and one step back every time we think we're making progress.

finally figured out my rock saw issue

so i was trying to cut through this darn limestone sample and my rock saw just wouldnt make a clean cut... tried everything, different blade, more water, you name it. what finally worked was adjusting the blade depth... makes sense i guess but it took me way too long to figure that out. has anyone else had this problem?? are there any other common issues with these things that i should be looking out for... because honestly im surprised it was something so simple
