Pack heavy shelters for short tours normal?
I always bring a full 3 season tent and sleeping bag for weekend rides even if it’s just a hotel backup. Others I meet use ultra light shelters they ‘might not need.’ Is there a community standard I’m missing for deciding what’s ‘enough’ in 48 hours? For example: Do groups consider this irrational prioritizing gear over weight vs cost balance?
