I was reading this study on social cohesion and it finally clicked - the way people interact in groups is so much more complex than I thought. I mean, we all know that social norms exist, but seeing the data on how they're formed and changed is really interesting. It's like, we're all influenced by the people around us, even when we don't realize it. And the way that these norms can be both positive and negative is pretty fascinating. For example, in some communities, social norms can promote cooperation and altruism, while in others they can lead to exclusion and discrimination. It's crazy to think about how much of our behavior is shaped by the people around us, without us even realizing it.
