Which North American wildlife photography spots are overrated?

I've spent the last few months chasing the classic locations—Yellowstone, the Everglades, the Pacific Northwest coast—only to find that the crowds and the predictable animal patterns make the experience feel more like a tourist trap than genuine wildlife observation. I'm looking for honest input from people who actually spend time in the field: which sites do you think get too much hype for the actual wildlife you can reliably see there? Are there lesser‑known areas that consistently deliver better sightings, or does the whole "must‑visit" narrative simply inflate expectations? Please share specific locations, the type of wildlife you encountered, and any tips on timing or approach that made the difference. I'm especially interested in places where the animal behavior hasn't been overly conditioned by human presence.
