Minor win: Just tracked a fish migration pattern shift!
Been combing through NOAA data all morning and nailed down a clear link between warming Gulf currents and snapper migration timing. Some folks in the sea temp thread dismissed the connection as anecdotal – here’s the 8-year sonar logs proving otherwise. Any marine biologists here ready to debate the implications? Charts in my comments.
Why does the mitochondrial DNA replication model 2.0 claim reverse transcription occurs in prokaryotes?
I'm stuck on a lecture slide that says the new MitoRep 2.0 algorithm predicts that prokaryotic cells perform reverse transcription during mitochondrial DNA replication. The slide even cites a "circular RNA primer" mechanism similar to retroviruses. Is this actually how bacteria handle mtDNA, or am I misreading the model? Any clarification would be appreciated.
