so annoyed with forecast models
i was tracking this low pressure system all day and the models just couldn't seem to get it right... like every hour it was a different story?? they'd say it's gonna pass to the north, then suddenly it's gonna stall over us... and the precipitation forecasts?? forget about it... i swear, it's like they're just throwing darts at a board... i know it's not an exact science, but can't they just get a little closer?? i was trying to plan a hike for tomorrow and i had to check like 5 different sources just to get a vague idea of what the weather might be like... and even then, i'm not really sure if i can trust it... does anyone else have to deal with this kind of thing??
Why do forecasts always overdo the rain??
Okay, so I live in a place where the weather’s basically a mood... and the forecasts are always so dramatic. Like, yesterday they were going on about a 'high chance of thunderstorms' and 'dangerous lightning'? Total overkill. I prepped for a disaster, hauled in the patio stuff, and what actually happened? A few drizzle drops and a cloud that looked like a sad cotton ball. Where’s the accountability here???
It’s not even about being right or wrong—it’s about the theatrics. I get it, models are imperfect, but when you hype up a Category 3 hurricane and it turns out to be a soggy Tuesday, people lose trust. Fast. Are we just gonna let forecasters run wild with their drama queens’ hats on? Or is there a way to call them out without getting canceled for being a 'weather denier'...? I’m dying to hear your takes. Let’s hash this out.
music trends that annoy me
I've been listening to a lot of different genres lately and I've noticed something that's been bugging me... it feels like every song is just a variation of the same thing?? like, how many times can we reuse the same chord progression or melody before it gets old?? I'm not saying I don't enjoy some of the music that's coming out, but it's just so... formulaic... and predictable... where's the creativity?? where's the experimentation?? I feel like music has become so focused on being 'commercially viable' that we're losing the artistry and the passion that used to drive it... what's the point of making music if it's just going to sound like everything else??... I don't know, maybe I'm just being cynical, but it feels like we're in a bit of a musical rut right now... and I'm not sure how to get out of it...
