Hiking Solo?
I feel like the trend of mandatory buddy systems for hiking is a bit overblown... maybe we're losing some of the solitude and self-reliance that makes hiking so appealing in the first place?? I've had some of my most transcendent experiences on the trail when I've been completely alone, and I worry that we're inadvertently creating a culture where people are afraid to challenge themselves without a crutch. I'm not saying safety isn't important, but can't we find a better balance... between caution and personal freedom?
Hiking solo is overrated
I feel like people tend to romanticize hiking alone... maybe it's just me, but I've had way more meaningful experiences with a small group?? Like, wouldn't you rather share those breathtaking views with someone who can actually appreciate them?? I've been on some solo hikes where I've stumbled upon these amazing vistas, and it's just... flat, you know?? No one to high-five or take a crappy selfie with... what's the point of being at the top of a mountain if you can't even bother anyone with a brag post?? I mean, I know some people love the whole 'finding yourself' vibe, but isn't that just code for 'I'm boring and have no friends to hike with'...??
Mold Found Post-Appraisal?? Time Loopholes Allowed??
Just a random story this week where I hit my breaking point...?
Listings are a dream, inspections came up green, appraisal hit the price... everything on schedule. Then the mold grows on schedule under the crawlings - not in crawl space (where people might look) - under actual first layer. No. It waited for final inspection to pop on my dashboard?
Okay but what am I supposed to know with no walk-through in the listing? I can't dig into sub-floors for fun and profit in every house.
Second hit? Appraisal later said crawlfld supports aren't up to standard because it had been... you name it? This isn't '87 either. Should that have shown up when I thought the property was structurally solid.??
So stuck with an $00/month cost of delay - and no down if I go under this? Not even joking about the 'refinance when it's done!' logic.
Who’s with me in the 'molds come out of nowhere at best, hidden for best’ rant?
