why does the nightcrawler xb-12 lockbox keep deadlocking in abandoned tunnels?

so i grabbed the new nightcrawler xb-12 lockbox last week for a midnight raid in the old rail yard. got the hype about ip67 rating and "self‑charging solar strip" but the thing is a total nightmare.

  • battery drains to 0% within 3h of idle, even with solar panel covered by dust. firmware 1.3.7 claims "enhanced standby" but i see nothing.
  • the magnetic latch seals fail when humidity spikes >70% (yeah, typical for underground). i heard the spec says "rated for 85% humidity" but real‑world says otherwise.
  • the built‑in gps module (mtk3339) loses lock the second you go under concrete. ended up digging out the box with a crowbar because the keypad froze at "error 0x2a".
  • support tickets get auto‑reply "we're looking into it" and never hear back. the creator's youtube channel still pushes the "perfect urban explorer gear" vibe while ignoring these legit issues.

anyone else getting the same deadlock on xb-12s? i’m thinking of swapping to a generic steel cam lock instead of paying for more nightcrawler junk. let me know if you’ve found a fix or if i should just dump this trash.

edit: found that disabling the motion sensor in the app (v2.0.1) at least stops the random lockouts, but you lose the anti‑tamper alarm. not a great trade.

any thoughts? rn I'm hunting for a reliable box for a upcoming sewer crawl.

mistake in the tunnels

so i was exploring this abandonned subway tunnel last week and i thought i knew the exit route but lol i ended up lost for hours, had to wait til morning to find my way out. im kinda embarrassed about it tbh, been doing ue for years and i still manage to mess up like that. anyone else have any similar experiences?
