Challenging the notion of linguistic relativity
I've been reading about the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis and I'm not convinced it's as solid as everyone makes it out to be The idea that language influences thought is intriguing, but I think it's been overstated. We can't just assume that because some languages have different grammatical structures, their speakers perceive reality differently. What about cultural and environmental factors? Don't they play a role in shaping our worldview? I'd love to hear some counterarguments or examples that support or refute this hypothesis.
