linguistics pet peeve

i dont get why people always assume that a language has to have a crazy amount of grammatical cases to be considered complex rn, like whats wrong with having a relatively simple grammar system and making up for it with a ton of nuance in vocabulary and context lol, isnt that kinda the point of language, to convey meaning in a way thats unique to the culture and history of the people who speak it, tbh i think sometimes we get too caught up in trying to prove which language is the most complicated or whatever and forget that the real beauty of language is in how its actually used by people
