do most people actually read primary sources when they study ancient history?

i'm kinda tired but gotta ask rn: when ppl dive into, say, roman empire stuff, are they usually just scrolling wikipedia or actually cracking open the original latin texts? i feel like most of the time i'm just skimming secondary stuff and wonder if that's normal or am i missing the point lol
