Help: my first 2024 merlot 750ml shows pH 3.2, is that normal?
just opened my first 2024 merlot 750ml from chateau de la vign… pH 3.2 on my new x‑200 digital meter wow
tbh i didn’t expect that
here’s what i did: 1 calibrate meter with 4.0 and 7.0 buffers 2 rinse with distilled water 3 measure at 25°C 4 note the reading 5 compare to typical range 3.0‑3.5 for merlot
this shows it’s on the higher acidity side, good for a crisp finish
if you want to tweak, try a short decant or let it breathe 30 min
also, the bouquet is green apple, blackcurrant, subtle oak finish is medium, a bit silky
i used a 750ml glass, 5 oz pour
if you have a similar bottle, share your pH and notes
my new 2024 merlot is part of the 2024 vintage series, limited 500 bottles
excited to see how it ages
any tips on storage? thanks
