Help: My homemade GSI P3A charcoal filtration breaks down during a rain‑storm outdoor show

why does a single pipe joint give up when i’m 40 feet above ground??

i set up a full diy filtration stack for the summer festival last night – 6‑inch hose, m8 elbows, a 1‑bar pump, and a gsi p3a filter with an extra layer of charcoal. i had even prep‑coated the filters with that new sodium‑borate spray so they’d hold heat.

midway through rehearsal, the temp spiked to 37°c. the pump pushed 350 l/min, the filters should’ve held it. instead, the top chamber leaked like a broken tap; my emergency water container went from 5l to 2l in ten seconds. the crew laughed, the director yanked the props away, i’m stuck with no potable water until we walk home.

i feel like a failure. all the professional sets have a 12‑unit backup system (think nrg 200, model 3.2), so why am i stuck with a two‑component thing that flares up like a small volcano? this has me questioning my skill level. any theatre folks who survived a blackout or built a real fail‑proof survival kit while on stage? share a win‑or‑loss scenario – i need validation, help, or at least a half‑sane solution. this stuff should not be “just for the wilderness” or for people who spend months learning. i’m in 2019, i can fix my filter!

help?
