Just wrapped up my first solo 3‑day bushcraft run where the headline act was lighting a fire with the fresh‑out‑of‑the‑box FerroRod 2.5 mm model FR‑25
help: why does the s5s thermal vent from blackbelt equipment ignite the backdrops at 2200k??
i just pulled out the new 0.2mm copper gasket from the blackbelt s5s thermal vent series for a stage fire test. instead of cooling the backstage curtain, the copper heated up the canvas to 2200k and started a second fire.
what exactly is the copper baffle doing at that temperature? did i misread the specs and think it blocks heat while acting as a thermal insulator?? any body know how that solder joint actually behaves under those conditions?? i heard some folks talk about a "thermo‑mass 2.4GHz system" but i swear it only worked in theory.
p.s. i’m also wondering if a 10‑ft t‑track wind shield for the open‑air rehearsal could double as a fire‑break if wired to the same copper vent system. thoughts??
