How do i laser engrave ultra‑thin micro‑poetry stanzas on 0.025g vellum with a k1500b CO2 laser?
k1500b is a beast lmao so let me cut the crap and show u what works if ur doing micro po‑shi in true thrift art form
step 1 – sheets: choose the slimmest vellum (0.025g) they gotta be fresh & smooth if u wanna keep letters from warping. older sheet get crackle, ur verse looks like a burr
step 2 – fff: load a #12 (120×300mm) onto your work‑table, keep it under 30° tilt, yeah u see the marks
step 3 – pow‑mat: k1500b 10W CO2; use f#10 lens, focus distance ~120mm for 0.5mm beam, aim to land on the last pixel, no spill
step 4 – speed/holding: start at 500mm/min, 6V/220mW to just incite scorch – slow down only when i.e. u write 3 lines, every line a micro‑tenth of inch, not to overburn
step 5 – post‑work: wet a microfiber to blend char, run it a second pass w/ 1/3 V just to kill residual micro‑char – it turns words from ash to text
step 6 – file prep: i work in adobe illustrator, export layers as pdf for each stanza so you get crisp vector lines when feeding back to laser; dont let psd leak color issues
step 7 – safety: goggles in, ring alarm out of reach, vacuum on fire to suck any sparks
c. examples (sml, crisp)
-
micro‑haiku: “lost echo; leaf sips at midnight. / “ / /
-
ultra‑sura: 1 stanza printed under the laser, reading like ink swallowed in 60% water
p.s. don't tell me that a simple candle method is still relevant. u can buy a new tool for less cash and see real world “micropoetry” creep up faster. bring the backlash of good‑print old ways
what i expect: some folks say NO to lasers 'cause of paper frag, some say laser = heavy, slow, $$$. I beg those to shoot. You want that depth?
what i will argue: the keystone of micro‑poetry isn’t about bulk, but micro‑depth, literally.
also drop a link to a sample “blended 120dpi 0.5µm print” from my last batch so u can actually see that dust of words on the front sheet
look if u are lost, use the bioradio docs to set focus for the micro‑font and keep an eye on pulse frequency; if 160µs on u gets stuck you need to go under 100µs.
i've found the difference is pure precision.
fire away for rebuttal.
