Should hikers yield to runners on trails?

so i was out on a trail today and this runner zoomed past me super close. i was like dude, give some space. but then i wondered, is it standard to yield to runners? or should they slow down for hikers? imo, hikers have the right of way since we're moving slower and harder. but some people argue runners should adjust. what's the consensus here?
