Struggling with dating a pottery shard—any suggestions?

I recently uncovered a small shard of pottery at a dig site in the lower valley of the River X. The fragment is glazed, but the glaze is cracked and there's no clear stratigraphic layer to tie it to. I've tried to use thermoluminescence, but the lab returned a wide range that feels like a foggy window—nothing concrete. I'm stuck. Anyone have experience with cross‑referencing ceramic typology or using Bayesian modeling to narrow down the date? Also, any tips on dealing with a fragment that might be a recycled piece? I'm a bit anxious about misdating it and skewing the site's chronology. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
