I've been trying to play some standard games on MTG Arena, but every time I try to join a match, the client crashes with error code 0xc0000005. I've t
Why do Eldora Vampiric Ritual and Tainted Strike see such inconsistent bannos compared to Modern Horizons cards? Help explain my frustration
I've noticed a wild inconsistency in the ban decisions. Look at cards like Eldrazi Temple and Tarmogoyf — sure, they're older but still see heavy play while being treated as some sort of sacred cow of legacy deck building. In Theros Beyond Death and more newly in Horizons, cards like [Tirel the Bold | Venerable Ape | God-Pharah's Legacy | ??? I can never remember specific new ones off hand?] keep getting reprints but somehow are treated as 'okay until you realize their effect makes every other creature useless'. Wait, what. So if Eldrazi is too busted for the current Standard then gets quietly pushed aside, but the new cards only face the same issue in 2-3 prints? What’s that say about the consistency here?
Also I’m just here raging that my Standard playgroup can't go more than an evening before someone pulls the same card. If you want my opinion, it’s the game’s inconsistency that keeps new players at bay far longer than actual complexity ever could. And sure there's always the fun with Eldrazi, the real pain starts when some of these new mechanics have so many inter dependencies with old effects or specific triggers you basically just have to read them as 5-word poems.
