why does my winsor & newton oil 7174 crack on primed linen after 48h?
i swear the only thing i love about my new 28x40 cm linseed stretched canvas is that it finally lets the 7174 oil pigments show that buttery blend i adore... but omg the crack lines are popping after 2 days! tried the classic 3:1 solvent mix, the fat over lean layering, even pre‑wetting the ground with a 2% rabbit‑hair primer but the flex still shows. guess all that 8‑year “professional” experience with plein air won't stop cheap canvas flex when i pour 2 ml of cadmium orange deep into the glazes lol. anyone else with similar “high‑end” woes or is my studio just too chill?
