Why does the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) only express GABA_B1b2 receptors in political decision‑making?
I came across a paper that claimed the DLPFC is basically a GABA_B1b2‑only hub when people are choosing between candidates. Supposedly this explains why left‑leaning voters show more impulsivity – the receptor supposedly suppresses the usual glutamatergic balance. Anyone know if this is actually how the DLPFC works, or am I mixing up the receptor subtypes? I’m especially confused about the mention of model #NR2A‑3 in the methods – is that even a real NMDA subunit variant?
- Is GABA_B1b2 truly exclusive to the DLPFC?
- Does it have any documented link to partisan behavior?
- And what about that NR2A‑3 thing – is that a typo?
Looking forward to the nerdy correction squad on this!
