Why does my Dometic CFX-170 cooler keep overheating and leaking after 2 months?
the dometic cfx‑170 cooler i bought on 5/15/24 for a weekend road trip started overheating after ~2 weeks
it hits 85°F on the display while ambient is 65 and a tiny drip comes from the bottom, smushing my snacks
i logged the temp with a cheap ds18b20 sensor wired to an arduino and got 86 at 9pm, while the unit reads 80— weird mismatch
the error code flashing on the panel is e45, which per the manual means compressor overload, but i’ve never seen it in a 12‑hour trip
attached a screenshot of the panel and the serial log from the ds18b20 (temp: 86C, voltage: 12V, current: 2.3A)
warranty hasn’t responded after 3 emails; i want to know if i should get a refund or if there’s a cheap fix
anyone else dealt with dometic overheating/overload? i’d appreciate receipts or a fix
