I've been skimming through the literature and the three empires keep cropping up in discussions. Each one has a distinct administrative system: the Sasanian Ashiān Administration, Gupta Suryavanshi bureaucracy, and the Song Li Yong Governance Model. The debate seems stuck in a vacuum.

• Sasanian: Heavy on Zoroastrian court rituals; strong frontier military codes.
• Gupta: Classic example of a flourishing trade empire and early Indian renaissance.
• Song: Innovation powerhouse – printing, gunpowder, and a complex commercial tax system.
