I finally nailed the gallery wall layout after two weeks of misery
Spent a solid weekend moving frames around the living‑room wall with the usual frustration of crooked pictures and uneven spacing. The breakthrough was swapping the cheap measuring tape for a laser level and treating the arrangement like a puzzle: I laid all frames on the floor first, using a large sheet of butcher‑paper to mock‑up the grid. Once the mock‑up looked balanced, I transferred the nail points onto the wall with a single dot per frame. The laser kept each line razor‑sharp, so I didn’t have to second‑guess the level at each step. End result: perfectly straight, evenly spaced, and a cohesive composition that feels intentional rather than a desperate collage of leftovers. The whole thing took about three hours from start to finish, and I finally got a glimpse of what a finished space looks like without constantly double‑checking my eye.
Lesson learned: sketch, use a proper level, and don’t trust a ruler on uneven plaster. The effort is worth the sanity boost when you step back and see a wall that actually earns compliments.
