Why does the Kruskal's Swirl gelato base give error code PZ-4042 during freezing?

I'm trying to replicate the "Kruskal's Swirl" puzzle‑themed ice cream from the 2022 Gelato Lab series. The recipe calls for a 7.2% guar‑gum suspension (batch #GS-07) and a rapid‑freeze cycle using the IceMaster 3500 (firmware v3.1.4).

When I start the cycle the machine displays error code PZ‑4042 and halts. I've double‑checked the following:

  • Guar‑gum concentration: measured at 7.18% (refractometer X‑200)
  • Salt brine temperature: -8 °C (consistent across cycles)
  • Whisk speed: 1,200 rpm (per spec)
  • Batch volume: 2.5 L (within 250 ml tolerance)

What triggers PZ‑4042? Is it a stability issue with the polymer mesh, or could the 0.3 mm honeycomb seed crystals be too large for the current churning profile? Any insight or a known firmware tweak would be appreciated.

skip the rinse on quinoa for bowls

fr i've been trying out a new quinoa bowl recipe and i realized you don't need to rinse quinoa before cooking tbh it's a waste of time and water

here's the quick rundown

  • cook the quinoa straight from the package with a pinch of salt
  • roast a mix of sweet potato cubes, broccoli florets, and cherry tomatoes in the oven
  • toss the cooked quinoa with the roasted veggies
  • drizzle a simple tahini lemon sauce made with tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and a splash of veggie broth
  • finish with fresh cilantro and a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds

i've found that skipping the rinse keeps the grains a bit more fluffy and reduces the extra step, and the sauce cuts through the nuttiness nicely

give it a try if you want something fast and minimal hassle
