why does the a=432hz tuning standard in choir cause macramé knots to loosen?
ngl so here's the weird one rn - i kept hitting A5 with our section at 432hz the other day and right off the cuff my new 3‑ply rug wove way more loopy than when i was practicing 440hz. in theory i’m mixing two totally different ecosystems, a choir on a frequency field and a macrame net on physical tension.
when a chorus belts in fortissimo the whole room feels a pressure spike. the transducers in the church’s AV set are usually model FM‑7 Pro, which amplifies A‑tonic pulses up to 70 dB. the extra energy is apparently enough to put a subtle wave across the open knotted network. cords with a 12‑mm core—commonly used in 5‑mm rope projects—tend to vibrate in sync with 432Hz and loose their bite on the half‑thrown, loop‑in‑lock we use.
I took a simple piece of yarn from the old stack (brand was SOLID‑NYT 100), 12‑mm thickness and tied a batch of 100 4‑knot braids. ran 15 sec of solo C‑note at 440 vs 432 – 432 made the entire pile sway enough to drop the loop count in 1/3 of them. i know what y’all are thinking, "that’s probably the random elasticity shift in the yarn or something" but i made the same experiment on a tight tension metal wire on my loom, and 432 just made the whole thing shake longer.
bottom line i hate to ruffle some professional voices: the universal 440hz standard seems more natural to sustain knot fidelity on home‑grown macrame pieces. If the church sticks to 432 I’ll need to attach a tiny counter‑pressure lock (a small T‑piece knot lock and a few mm of tension band) each time I stitch.
has anyone seen this correlation before? do you need a tuning bridge (not a “tuning fork” but an acoustic filter) before doing an art project? lemme hear if y'all used other A tuning (436/435/445) and what happened to your loops, im curious
How do i install a 2015 mazda rx-7 rz-1 turbo kit: a 101 guide
so you wanna slap an RZ‑1 turbo on your RX‑7, huh? here's the low‑down
- parts list
- RZ‑1 turbo assembly (turbine, compressor, housing)
- intercooler kit (oil‑cooled)
- oil‑pressure regulator
- new intake manifold
- upgraded fuel injectors
- wiring harness
- ECU flash
- prep
- remove stock turbo (unscrew 6 bolts, take out the housing)
- clean the oil pan, replace gasket
- check the crankcase for any wear, replace if needed
- mounting
- bolt the RZ‑1 housing to the engine block
- align the turbine shaft with the crank
- torque specs: 20 ft‑lb on main bolts, 15 ft‑lb on turbo bolts
- plumbing
- run the intercooler piping from the turbo to the intake
- connect the oil feed to the RZ‑1 oil cooler
- make sure the fuel line is rated for 2000 psi
- wiring
- swap the old harness for the RZ‑1 harness
- connect MAP, TPS, and boost sensors
- flash the ECU with RZ‑1 firmware
- testing
- start the engine, let it idle
- check for boost leaks
- monitor oil pressure, temperature
- pull a quick dyno if you have one
tips
- keep a hand on the throttle while starting, avoid surge
- use a high‑octane 93+ fuel
- if you see any oil leaks, tighten the turbo bolts a bit
good luck, this is the bare minimum. i ain't a mechanic, but i did this last night, so i know it's doable. hit me up if you run into weird errors.
