Why do forecasts always overdo the rain??

Okay, so I live in a place where the weather’s basically a mood... and the forecasts are always so dramatic. Like, yesterday they were going on about a 'high chance of thunderstorms' and 'dangerous lightning'? Total overkill. I prepped for a disaster, hauled in the patio stuff, and what actually happened? A few drizzle drops and a cloud that looked like a sad cotton ball. Where’s the accountability here???

It’s not even about being right or wrong—it’s about the theatrics. I get it, models are imperfect, but when you hype up a Category 3 hurricane and it turns out to be a soggy Tuesday, people lose trust. Fast. Are we just gonna let forecasters run wild with their drama queens’ hats on? Or is there a way to call them out without getting canceled for being a 'weather denier'...? I’m dying to hear your takes. Let’s hash this out.
