Just nailed my first sourdough loaf!

So I was trying to bake a sourdough loaf for the first time, and it actually turned out pretty good. I followed a simple recipe, let the dough rise overnight, and when I pulled it out of the oven the crust was golden brown, a bit crispy, and the inside was all airy and chewy. It smelled amazing—like a bakery in my own kitchen. I’m not going to brag, but it was a small win that felt huge, you know? I can finally say I’m not just a pizza guy, I can bake a decent loaf too. Anyone else have a recent baking win to celebrate?

can pizza gigs be sustainable career paths?

imo career advice always glosses over the pizza industry. whatabout people who wanna make a living off pizza? is it all just freelance work or can you get a steady gig? not talking about culinary school graduates only, btw. anyone here doing pizza work full time? sounds like a pipe dream rn

How do lunar phase superstitions affect kayak casting more than trolling motor thrust ratings???

Quick poll: do you fish based on moon phases (tbh i still cringe when my garmin 245 says 'error 69' but whatever) or trust your trolling motor specs?? A) full moon magic B) minn kota vs budget motors.. imo casting accuracy is like public speaking—audience (fish) mood vs your setup lol

classical music snobs

tbh im so done with people who think they're classical music experts just cuz they've listened to like 2 mozart symphonies rn they're always like 'oh you cant listen to classical music on spotify it has to be on vinyl' lol no one has time for that imo

Why does every food blogger insist on 'artisanal' sauce when it's just glorified jarred marinara?

I was at a pizza joint over the weekend and saw their 'signature sauce' described as artisanal. Give me a break. It's just Prego with some herbs thrown in. What's next, calling frozen dough 'hand-tossed'? Journalism types love to spout off about 'locally sourced' and 'small-batch' but sometimes it's just marketing fluff. When did 'artisanal' become code for 'we charged more for this'?
