Do others meticulously document every find?
I spend hours documenting every detail of my excavations. Every pottery shard, every layer of soil. Is this normal?? I feel like I'm being too meticulous, but at the same time, I don't want to miss anything important. Do others really take the time to record every.single.detail??
Do we normally update our field notes after a dig?
I just realized I got the dates wrong in my last field report – the timestamps for a few layers were off by a day. I flagged it in a quick note but haven’t fully revised the official log yet.
Is it normal to keep a separate “corrections” section or just update the original notes later? I feel a little guilty about it, but I’m not sure if other people do the same or if there’s a better workflow.
Any thoughts?
