why beethoven's symphonies are overrated vs. modern blockchain consensus algorithms
tbh i feel like most ppl treat beethoven like the godfather of music, but his sym #9 is just a long-winded theme-and-variations grind the sonataâallegro form feels like a bad proofâofâwork: you waste tons of cycles for a payoff that could be a simple hash
compare that to a sleek sharding design â clean, modular, no endless repeats even bach's counterpoint is just overâengineered polyphony, like an overly complex smart contract that could've been a single function call
maybe i'm being harsh, but the hype is insane classical music is background noise for a study session, not revolutionary art what do you think, any classical nerds got a counter argument? đ¤
Why does a warm Merlot pair well with Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat major
I feel like there's a connection between the mellow notes of a warm Merlot and the soothing melodies of Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat major. Maybe it's the way the wine's subtle tannins complement the piece's delicate phrasing. I've been listening to this nocturne a lot lately, and I noticed that a warm Merlot seems to enhance the experience. The wine's flavors seem to resonate with the music's emotional depth. I'd love to hear from others who've had similar experiences.
Help: Choosing the best 18th c German violin bow for bach's partita in g during a home studio project
i tried using the urei 1176f on the raw take for a few tracks but still can feel the miss of that 18th c warm of a true german gut bow i hear from old 1700s luthiers when i mix it with the same eur-phonics violin (hollow belly, 165 mm arm) tbh i want to pull that sound straight to the console
i am on a very small budget for studio gear but also want a legit bow with the right stiffness rating â preferably around 2.6â2.8 gram for the middle weight and an old german spruce or even an eifel spruce camber; i think it makes a difference in the touch on the strings when i do bach or particelâŚ
do any of y'all have specific models or even recommendations of where to find an authentic german gut bow from the late 1700âs that would be good for the modern studio mix and also an insight on how to care for a gut bow after using it in a controlled environment? i am especially interested in a bow that will provide a slightly brighter but still full tonal attack on the bowstring â as some luthier forums say âthe 1735 borsz bows made for 1st violin by hand.â
iâd love to know if someone got one of the historic f/s bow shape from the same era and what the typical stiffness on these is. any specific purchase links or thrift store ideas or just general guidelines would be super helpful for this project.
thank you in advance folks, i appreciate the insight.
Finally got through the first movement of Mahler's 5th without cringing
Iâve been avoiding Mahlerâs Fifth Symphony for years because the opening movement feels like an endless test of patience. Yesterday I forced a full sitâdown, no distractions, and actually made it to the end of the first movement without checking my phone or muttering under my breath. A few points worth noting:
- I started the recording at a slower tempo than usual. The reduced speed let me hear the inner counterâmelodies that usually get lost.
- I wrote down the structural markers (exposition, development, recapitulation) on a scrap of paper. Having a roadmap stopped the feeling of being swept away by the sheer length.
- I treated the piece like a puzzle rather than a wall of sound. Each thematic fragment became a piece to place, which made the whole less oppressive.
The payoff was immediate: the climactic transition that always felt like a wall suddenly clicked into place, and I could actually anticipate the return of the famous âAllegro con brioâ. Itâs a small win, but it feels like Iâve cracked a code thatâs been frustrating me for a decade. Any other listeners who finally got past a âMahler hurdleâ and can share how you managed it?
why the hall keeps serving lukewarm piano
just went to the new symphony gig and the piano sounded like it was halfâcooked lol the strings were fine but the piano was all mushy i swear they should warm it up properly before the show rn

classical music snobs
tbh im so done with people who think they're classical music experts just cuz they've listened to like 2 mozart symphonies rn they're always like 'oh you cant listen to classical music on spotify it has to be on vinyl' lol no one has time for that imo
omg just found the best burger jam

I accidentally thought a Mozart piece was a sushi roll soundtrack đ¤Śââď¸
So... I was prepping nigiri this morning, got the rice just right, and put on what I thought was a chill background track. Turns out it was Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" playing at full volume. I kept humming the melody while slicing tuna, totally convinced it was some modern loâfi sushi playlist. đ
Only when a friend asked why the fish seemed to be dancing did I realize Iâd been listening to a classical concert the whole time. Maybe my brain just wanted a fancy soundtrack for the perfect slice. Maybe Iâm just weird. Anyway, anyone else has a weird musicâandâfood mixup? đśđŁ
help: choose a classical piece for a 14-count backstitch pattern â mozart k.448 vs beethoven op.67
i'm stitching a music sheet motif and need a piece that feels like a tight backstitch tension. which one gives the best "forte" vibe?
- mozart k.448 (a minor) â smooth but still got that staccato punch
- beethoven op.67 (5th) â massive crescendo, maybe too aggressive rn but could be epic
- bach bwv 1007 (cello suite) â baroque flow, kinda chill
drop your pick in the comments and tell me why. tbh i think the beethoven is overkill but i love a good clash lol
