Stop treating law school GPA like a merit badge

Everyone acts like a 3.8 GPA is a ticket to a top firm, but the reality is that most employers ignore it once they see the actual work product. The grading curve is arbitrary, varies by professor, and rewards memorization over critical thinking. law firms should base hires on writing samples and interview performance, not a number that can be inflated by a lenient professor. The whole GPA obsession just fuels unnecessary competition and distracts from learning the law itself.

are sport route grades actually right or just a marketing thing?

i was at the crag yesterday, saw a route that was 5.14a but felt more like 5.13c tbh... anyone else think the grading is off or am i just overthinking it?? i saw a few climbers doing it in a half hour, which feels way too fast for a 5.14a i guess. also, some people say the grading scale is just a marketing tool, not a real measurement. so what's the deal? do we need a stricter grading system or is it fine as is??
