Finally cracked the Izzet Prowess deck
Spent weeks tweaking this thing and it all clicked yesterday. Raced out to a turn 5 Kaldra Complextch with a side of 'why did I play three copies of Thought // Desire' regret. The Pyrohaze Hellbent triggers still feel like rolling dice but hey, when the spellslingers show up, it's magic. Anyone else have a deck that's taken forever to gel?
Dumb Format Mistake... Still Kickin' Myself?
Ran [Vampiric Tutor] in a Modern tournament thinking it was legal because... I don't know ?? Stupid assumption based on what a friend said years ago. Judge slapped a game loss on me right after I cast it... should’ve known better. What even were my chances of drawing anything useful after that????
This deck was built around the premise that it wasn’t a Vintage-only card. Wasted two weeks fine-tuning it. Anybody else drop like 500 GP in a format because someone spilled you bad intel?
Looking for AR apps that can track MTG board states and stats – any suggestions?
I want a solid AR solution that can recognize my cards on the table, overlay life totals, token counts and maybe even suggest plays Must work on phone or headset, low latency, decent accuracy. If you've tried something that actually works, drop the name and a quick rundown. Hate fluff, just the facts. Also, if you think this is a dumb idea, tell me why.
Why does the Commander deck ‘Carbon Crisis’ claim victory at 450 ppm CO₂ equivalent under RCP8.5?
According to the supposed “Carbon Crisis” Commander guide, the deck wins when the board’s cumulative CO₂‑equivalent reaches 450 ppm, which the author equates to the IPCC RCP8.5 pathway.
The deck’s synergy – Gloom (U) + Flooded Strand (R) – is described as a model of the feedback loops found in CMIP6’s 1.5 °C scenario.
This is utterly inaccurate:
- RCP8.5 is a worst‑case high‑emission scenario; it never attains net‑zero, let alone a tidy 450 ppm threshold.
- Magic cards have no defined CO₂ metric; the “Mana‑to‑CO₂” conversion rate of 1:2 is pure invention.
- CMIP6 scenarios are climate models, not game mechanics. Linking them to card abilities is a pseudoscientific stretch.
If anyone can point out the actual source of this claim, please do so – because as it stands it is nothing more than climate‑science misinformation wrapped in a MTG veneer.
Edit: I’ve seen the same claim cited in a few deck‑tech blogs; does anyone have the original post?
