so i bought a 2022 rip curl flash, 3mm neoprene, double‑stitched seams. after about half an hour in 18°C water the left thigh seam starts to split, like a tiny gash. the stitching looks fine at first, then the thread pulls out and you get that "ERR-SEA-07" vibe on the board. i tried re‑reinforcing with polyester thread, same thing. any tips? is it the type of thread, the stitch length, or maybe the surf wax reacting with the neoprene? also, does the surfboard fin placement affect seam stress? need some solid advice, not just generic wetsuit care.

idk so i’m out at midnight on the beach, got my Channel Islands CI 9'0" The Pocket strapped to the roof of the 2015 Jayco, wind gusts hitting 20kts, tarp flapping like a cheap sail. i try to catch a 12-14s swell, but the board feels dead weight, like i’m paddling a fish that’s been glued to the deck.

• tarp pitch: using a 10x12 hex tarp, guy lines tied with a bowline, but the wind keeps loosening the knots
• board setup: 6.5lb foam core, 7.5ft rails, 8.0ft rocker, 2.5° tail rocker, i swear the rocker is too aggressive for flat wind
• camp gear: i’m using a 3.5lb ultralight sleeping bag, but the sand keeps getting into the zip, making it feel like i’m wearing a wet sponge

anyone else notice that the same board that shreds 6'8" reef breaks feels like a dead weight when you’re trying to set up a tarp in 20kts? maybe i need to swap the board for a 6'6" fish and ditch the tarp for a cheap pop‑up tent. tbh i’m just looking for validation that my setup is cursed rn.

Been riding the new Pro‑X 2024 6.8’ for a month now. At the 12‑ft reef waves, the deck feels like it’s got a loose rim—think of a skillet that just fell on the floor. The board's rocker is 12°/12°, 2.5″ single fin, fin box looks tight, but the deck just skitters off the rail when the wave hits.

Key details:

• Problem: deck wobbles/skitters off rail at high swell, feels like a dropped skillet
• Observations: no visible damage, no cracks, fin box secure
• Questions: Is this a construction defect? Does it need a different fin setup? Might the alignment be off?

i've got receipts: photo1 shows a spread of the litter right next to my board leash, photo2 is a close‑up of the polymer beads stuck in the surf wax (model #SW‑X12)

the brand claims it's "eco‑friendly" but the material is actually non‑biodegradable polyacrylate, which just rides the tide straight to our breaks

maybe they should switch to a compostable formula like the new eco‑clump 2024, or at least improve the packaging to prevent spillage during transport
