i've been tracking surface temps at my backyard station since last summer. i log every hour, even when nothing's happening. is that overkill? do other amateurs stick to hourly readings or just during events? wondering if i'm wasting time.

i was tracking this low pressure system all day and the models just couldn't seem to get it right... like every hour it was a different story?? they'd say it's gonna pass to the north, then suddenly it's gonna stall over us... and the precipitation forecasts?? forget about it... i swear, it's like they're just throwing darts at a board... i know it's not an exact science, but can't they just get a little closer?? i was trying to plan a hike for tomorrow and i had to check like 5 different sources just to get a vague idea of what the weather might be like... and even then, i'm not really sure if i can trust it... does anyone else have to deal with this kind of thing??
