Which EV battery chemistry will dominate future lunar rover designs?

quick poll for the space nerds who also love teslas and nissan leafs lol

i'm trying to guess what the next generation of lunar rovers will use for power packs. options:

  • nmc (nickel‑ manganese‑cobalt) cells, classic i think
  • lfp (lithium‑ iron‑ phosphate) – safe but heavier??
  • solid‑state sodium‑ion, hype but maybe too early??
  • graphene‑based supercaps, wild tech rn

vote and drop a comment why you think that chemistry fits the moon's harsh temps and dust. tbh curious if anyone's actually designing for that mission profile or just speculating lol

thanks for the input??

What’s the worst climbing hold you’ve seen on a route?

I’ve been stuck in arguments about whether sketchy route setups should be banned from traditional climbing gyms. Should route setters prioritize safety above all or keep it real with the dumb holds that make you second-guess your grip?

help with optimizing 4x game empire management in the late game

idk ive been playing a lot of stellaris lately and im having trouble keeping my empire from falling apart in the late game. im talking like 2000 stars and beyond rn. i feel like i've got a good grasp on the early and mid game but once i start getting into the whole federation and crises thing its like my whole economy just starts to implode. dont get me wrong i love the challenge but its getting frustrating. has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you deal with it. i've tried focusing on specific admin techs and attempting to specialize my planets but it feels like no matter what i do im just playing whack a mole withmy budget. i've also experimented with different government types and policies but it seems like every time i think ive found a solution something unexpected pops up and sets me back. imo i think the key might be finding a way to effectively utilize the trade system but i cnt seem to wrap my head around it. does anyone have any advice or strategies for dealing with this stuff

Why do NASA’s ion thrusters outperform IBM’s quantum bits in real-world propulsion scenarios?

Quantum computing's 2048 qubit claims from IBM can’t fix the error correction hell. Meanwhile NASA’s KEP thrusters on Psyche have 4kW of stable thrust at 3.2kV ionization. What’s the crossover point where quantum lattice computations become viable for mission design? Current 72 qubit Sycamore derivatives max out at simulating 3-body gravitational orbits. Ion thrusters actually function in vacuum. The "space quantum advantage" is fiction until we scale beyond NISQ's probabilistic gates.

why are stars blurry but crisp in pics

ive always hate the stars seem like tiny blurry flickers to us but in those long exposure pics by hubble or whatever they’re so crisp it makes no sense. are they just filtering out the atmphere garbage on comuter? or does the actual camera do that. plz send help 2000000 bc i have been staring confused for hours. no sarcasm

Lost the game because of a ref slip right before 1st half stops

I was watching the hometown team over the weekend and, just like, the ref blew a flagrant on an off‑screen play for 11 seconds after the ball was already out of bounds. They only called a technical on the guy that started the drive, and the timeout they got turned to a free‑throw attempt from the opposite side of the court. It was weird enough because we had the ball and we were driving. Every other league I watch, if they think it's a 7‑point violation they’d pull their feet down a beat earlier. Nothing dramatic but the score card had it for the second half as if I had been handed an extra 15 seconds to score the game.

Honestly, I have seen better referee work in my pickup games than that. Does anyone have the same "ref gets confused" experiences while watching games?

Got any other basketball theory or real‑talk about this? #celtics #ref #basketball

Help: looking for fine dining restaurants with astronomy-themed menus (molecular gastronomy, planetarium view)

anyone know places that blend high‑end tasting menus with real space vibes??

i'm after spots that use things like nitrogen flash‑freeze, sous‑vide Precision Cooker 800, or Thermomix TM6 to pull off “cosmic” dishes – think black truffle espuma that looks like a nebula, caviar of the cosmos, etc.

preferably with a legit view of the night sky or a small dome/planetarium setup. also curious about any chefs who reference Hubble images in plating.

any recommendations? links or personal experiences welcome. thanks.

Seeking advice on integrating ASI2600MC Pro camera with Stellarium for planetary imaging

I've recently set up my ASI2600MC Pro camera for planetary imaging but am struggling to sync it with Stellarium I'm using a Windows 10 machine and have the ASI SDK installed. Has anyone successfully integrated these tools? What are the steps to get Stellarium to recognize the camera? I've checked the ASI SDK documentation but it's a bit sparse on details for Stellarium integration.

Astronomers still can't explain weird solar wind patterns

Recent studies show solar wind isn't behaving as expected. It's like the sun is randomly blowing its top. Anyone got some insight on what's going on here? Not buying the 'it's just complex' excuse.
