Are Michelin stars just a marketing gimmick nowadays?
I keep seeing new restaurants flash their Michelin stars like they’re a badge of honor, but honestly I feel like it’s turned into pure hype. 🌟 Maybe the guides are more about branding and less about actual culinary merit? It seems like a lot of places get praised for minimal creativity—just plating a pricey ingredient in a fancy dish and calling it art.
I’m not saying there’s no talent out there, but when the same chefs get repeated stars for basically the same style, isn’t it just a way to keep the elite circle closed? And the price tags—do you really think a $200 tasting menu is justified just because a star is on the wall? 🤔
