Do you guys always use a tripod for astrophotography?
I've been getting into astrophotography lately and I was wondering if I'm the only one who sometimes skips using a tripod I know it's pretty essential for getting clear shots, but sometimes I'm just out and about with my camera and I see a great shot and I don't have my tripod with me. So I just Try to make do without it. Has anyone else ever done this? Do you find that it affects the quality of your photos too much? I've been experimentation with different techniques to try and get decent shots without a tripod, like using a faster shutter speed or a higher iso. But I'd love to hear from you guys and see what you think.
why does my canon eos 80d keep overexposing nebula shots
ive been trying to get into astrophotography and i just got my canon eos 80d but every time i try to shoot nebulae they come out totally overexposed... i know its prob a noob mistake but cant figure it out lol. ive been using the 18-55mm kit lens and trying to use manual mode but i must be doing something wrong... does anyone have any tips for a beginner like me??

So I've been trying to get some decent astrophotography shots with my Canon EOS 80D and SkyWatcher EQ5 mount, but I've been running into this weird issue where my stars are coming out all trailed and blurry. Bother with camera calibration
I've been struggling with getting consistent results from my camera's calibration frames. I shot a series of 20 dark frames at 5 minutes each, and when I stacked them, I still got a lot of hot pixels showing up.
